Mayor Small Unlocks the Sea to Kick Off Summer 2026 and Memorial Day Weekend
Posted May 22, 2026Mayor Marty Small, Sr. officially opened the sea for Summer 2026 in Atlantic City by placing the ceremonial key in the sand during the city’s annual Opening of the Sea ceremony outside Resorts Casino Hotel!
Mayor Small was joined by Police Chief James Sarkos, Fire Chief Scott Evans, Beach Patrol Chief Steve Downey and Public Safety Director Sean Riggin in welcoming residents and visitors for what is expected to be a banner summer season in Atlantic City.
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND NOTES
• Guarded beaches in Atlantic City begin Saturday, May 23, with lifeguards on duty daily from 10 AM to 6 PM. All beaches will be fully guarded by the end of June.
• The community is invited to Atlantic City’s Memorial Day Observance on Monday, May 25 at 12:00 PM inside City Hall Council Chambers (2nd floor).
• All City offices will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.
