Atlantic City Becomes First to Recognize 3 to 30 Seconds Global Moment to Pause

Posted March 31, 2026
The City of Atlantic City has become the first municipality in the nation to formally recognize the 3 to 30 Seconds Global Moment to Pause, which is an initiative led by Philadelphia motivational speaker and influencer Eric “Shabazz the OG” Lowe. The movement encourages individuals to take just a few seconds to pause and reflect before reacting, an approach aimed at reducing impulsive decisions and promoting more thoughtful, intentional actions that can positively shape outcomes.

Lowe joined Mayor Marty Small, Sr., city employees, and community members at City Hall at 3:30 p.m. on March 30 (3/30) to mark the occasion. During the gathering, Mayor Small presented a proclamation in support of the initiative. Earlier in the day, Lowe visited Atlantic City High School, where he spoke with eighth-grade students about critical thinking and decision-making. He urged students to consider consequences before acting, understand the potential consequences if you don’t, and he highlighted the lasting impact of thoughtful choices.
