Short term or vacation rentals are the rental of a residential dwelling unit for periods of 90 consecutive days or less. The City of Atlantic City expects property owners and tenants to comply with all ordinances pertaining to noise, parking, business licenses, excessive trash and number of occupants allow at the residence.
How to Report a Violation
The City has established a 24-hour hotline allow residents to register a complaint about a short-term rental in their neighborhood. This non-emergency line is to handle complains of noise, excessive amounts of trash, and overcrowding. It is important that you provide the exact address of the property in question so that staff may respond in a timely manner.

Common Violations
- Noise: Outside music or excessive noise that can be heard
- Parking: All vehicles associated with the residents of a short-term rental must be parked in the driveway. Vehicles are not to block neighboring properties’ driveways or community mailbox.
- Trash: Trash shall not be left out or stored in public view, except in proper containers for the purpose of collection in accordance with City code.
Short-Term Rental Questions
The City of Atlantic City requires an owner/operator to obtain a seasonal certificate of occupancy. Upon completion of an inspection for code compliance and an approved occupancy load for the dwelling, the seasonal certificate of occupancy shall serve as license to operate a qualified dwelling as a short-term rental.
