Aaron “Sporty” Randolph
First Ward Councilmember and Council President
Aaron “Sporty” Randolph was appointed to fill the unexpired term of First Ward Councilmember on February 11, 2010. Since then, he has been re-elected four times. He currently serves as President of City Council.
A life-long Atlantic City resident, “Sporty” (as he is affectionately known) is an advocate for the city he proudly calls “home.” He truly believes in Atlantic City and its people and works diligently to improve the First Ward, as well as the entire city – from the Boardwalk to the bay!
As a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for the past 30+ years, Councilmember Randolph understands the human condition. He inspires and encourages others in recovery and supports sobriety.
Councilmember Randolph is currently chairperson of the City Council’s Administration & Governmental Affairs Committee and a member of the Revenue & Finance Committee and Planning & Development Committee. He operates under an open-door policy to better address constituent’s needs and concerns.
“Sporty” was a union business agent for Local 54. He is a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church in Atlantic City, where he sings on the choir. He is also a member of the Atlantic City Branch of the NAACP.
Councilmember Randolph’s wife of 25 years, Barbara, departed this life in 2021 after a lengthy illness. “Sporty” has a son, Aaron, Jr. and 3 grandchildren. Councilmember Randolph is a sports fanatic (Go, Eagles!) and enjoys traveling and spending quiet time at home.
