In the Opinion section of the Monday, February 6, 2023 edition of The Press of Atlantic City, the newspaper published an editorial praising the work and accomplishments of the Atlantic City Police Department under the leadership of Chief James Sarkos.

The article sites zero excessive force complaints against the department in 2022, new technology being used and the ACPD’s participation in the CitiStat program.

The editorial reads, in part, “Police also are taking a lead role in the Clean and Safe effort by the city, county, state and others, reducing repeat offenses for lesser crimes such as shoplifting and helping address the convergence of addiction, mental health issues and homelessness.

The Atlantic City Police Department sets the bar higher, achieves, and sets it higher still. Everyone’s hope now should be pretty simple — keep up the good work.”
