Atlantic Avenue & Pacific Avenue Paving to Begin Monday

After months of underground utility work and years of coordination, Mayor Marty Small, Sr. announced the milling and paving of Atlantic Avenue from Tennessee Avenue to Albany Avenue is scheduled to begin Monday, September 21, 2026 at 8:00 PM ahead of schedule. Simultaneously, the paving of Pacific Avenue from Hartford Avenue to Connecticut Avenue (broken up into three phases) will begin.
Atlantic Avenue construction will consist of overnight work beginning at 8:00 PM during the week while Pacific Avenue construction will take place during the day. Both projects are expected to be completed before the end of this year. South State Inc is contracted for both Atlantic and Pacific Avenue projects.
To mark the occasion, Mayor Small is inviting residents and members of the media to join the City for a “Paving & Behavin’ Party” right before the Atlantic Avenue work begins. The community celebration will feature food and music at Florida and Atlantic Avenues where milling will begin at 8:00 PM on Monday. The evening will culminate with the start of construction, giving residents and members of the media an opportunity to see crews begin this long-awaited work.
