From the Atlantic City Health Department:
The City of Atlantic City has received preliminary information indicating several mosquitoes in the area of the Chelsea neighborhood have tested positive for West Nile Virus. The City’s Health Department is urging all residents to take simple steps to reduce mosquito exposure, including using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants when practical, removing standing water around their properties and keeping doors and windows properly screened. With the health and safety of our residents remaining our top priority, the city has followed all appropriate public health protocols and is in close communication with County and State health officials.

The Atlantic County Office of Mosquito Control plans, weather permitting, to conduct mosquito spraying in Atlantic City between 4:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026. The spraying will take place in areas bounded by North Harrisburg Avenue, Winchester Avenue, North Montgomery Avenue, South Montgomery Avenue, Atlantic Avenue, South Trenton Avenue and Ventnor Avenue. The treatment is intended to reduce adult mosquito populations and will be conducted using ground application equipment.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), residents do not need to relocate or take special precautions during mosquito control spraying. Residents can also sign up to receive notifications from the County.
