AIR QUALITY ALERT – July 17, 2026

Posted July 17, 2026
Today's air quality has reached levels that may be unhealthy, especially for children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and people with asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions. Smoke from Canadian wildfires is affecting air quality across New Jersey, including here in Atlantic City.

Protect yourself by:

  • Limiting prolonged outdoor activities and strenuous exercise.
  • Staying indoors with windows and doors closed when possible.
  • Wearing a well-fitting mask if you must be outside for extended periods.
  • Keeping rescue inhalers and medications readily available.
  • Checking on older adults, young children, and neighbors with chronic health conditions.

Stay informed by checking current air quality conditions:

  • New Jersey Air Quality
  • EPA AirNow

The Atlantic City Health Department's Environmental Health Division will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.
