Project Clean: Apply Now for Monthly Cleanup Stipends
Posted May 14, 2026The Atlantic City Department of Public Works is accepting applications for Project Clean, a new community cleaning initiative beginning Monday, May 11, 2026.
The first 7 completed applications received will be selected to participate. Additional applications will be placed on a waitlist.
About the Program
Project Clean partners the Department of Public Works with churches, sports leagues, civic associations, non-profits, and groups of 5 or more residents to keep Atlantic City clean, block by block. Selected groups will adopt blocks of 4 or more in radius and conduct 2 cleanups per month from June 2, 2026 through September 30, 2026.
Participating groups receive a $500 monthly stipend through the Clean Communities Mini Grant, for a total of $2,000 over the 4-month program.
Who Can Apply
Eligible applicants include:
- Churches
- Sports leagues
- Civic associations
- Non-profits
- Groups of 5 or more residents
Program Requirements
- Minimum group size of 5 participants
- No participants under the age of 13
- Each group must designate a team captain to serve as the primary point of contact and handle stipend collection
- 2 cleanups per month, with both dates submitted at the time of application
- Cleanups may be scheduled any day of the week between 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
- Date change requests must be submitted no later than 2 weeks in advance, subject to approval
- A signed Hold Harmless Agreement is required from each participant before every cleanup
- Participants under 18 must have parent or legal guardian consent
- All safety guidelines and cleanup procedures must be followed
- All cleaning materials will be provided by the Atlantic City Clean Communities Program
How to Apply
Download the Project Clean application and submit your completed packet to the Department of Public Works. Applications will be accepted starting Monday, May 11, 2026. The first 7 completed applications will be approved for the program. All additional submissions will be added to the waitlist.
