Major Winter Storm Impacts Atlantic City
Posted February 23, 2026The City of Atlantic City is responding to significant snowfall that began Sunday and continued Monday, creating hazardous travel conditions and prompting emergency measures citywide.
The Atlantic City Office of Emergency Management is urging residents and visitors to avoid all non-essential travel Monday as the Atlantic City Department of Public Works clears roadways. Staying off the roads is critical to allow plow crews to operate safely and efficiently and to ensure emergency vehicles can respond without delay.
Parking remains restricted along designated snow emergency routes. Vehicles parked on these routes on Monday will be towed to ensure streets can be cleared quickly and thoroughly. Snow emergency routes include:
- Atlantic Avenue
- Martin Luther King Boulevard
- Ohio Avenue
- Indiana Avenue
- Melrose Avenue
- Arctic Avenue

To assist residents and visitors, the Wave Parking Garage and the Showboat Parking Garage will remain free of charge through Tuesday afternoon.
Public Works crews have been plowing throughout the night and will continue working until all roads are cleared. Property owners are reminded that they are responsible for clearing sidewalks adjacent to their properties to ensure pedestrian safety.
City Hall and all municipal buildings are closed Monday, February 23, and Tuesday, February 24. There will be no trash collection on Monday.
The Atlantic City Emergency Operations Center remains open through Monday evening.
City officials strongly encourage residents to check on neighbors, especially elderly individuals, people with disabilities, and those with mobility or medical needs, and to offer assistance safely where possible.
