Atlantic City Still Experiencing Impacts from Weekend Winter Storm

Posted January 26, 2026
The first major winter storm of 2026 brought significant snowfall to Atlantic City and the surrounding region from Sunday into Monday. As snow transitioned to freezing rain, icy and hazardous conditions developed across the city.

As of Monday morning, the Atlantic City Office of Emergency Management continues to urge motorists to avoid all unnecessary travel and to use extreme caution if travel is unavoidable. Conditions remain dangerous in many areas.

City Hall, all Atlantic City municipal buildings, and Atlantic City Schools are closed on Monday, January 26, 2026. There will be no Monday trash collection; pickup will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

Atlantic City remains under a Cold Blue through at least Thursday morning. Residents are strongly encouraged to check on neighbors, especially elderly and vulnerable individuals, to ensure their safety during this prolonged cold period.

Mayor Marty Small, Sr. and the City of Atlantic City extend sincere gratitude to Atlantic City Emergency Management and Public Safety personnel for working extended hours throughout the storm. The Department of Public Works successfully plowed all major and side streets citywide, while the Atlantic City Police and Fire Departments assisted residents and visitors in need, helping to keep the community safe during this severe weather event.
