Atlantic City Prepares for Significant Weekend Storm; City Buildings Closed Monday

The City of Atlantic City is preparing for a significant winter storm forecasted to impact the region this weekend into early next week. Due to expected dangerous icy conditions, all city government buildings will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026. Atlantic City us currently under a Code Blue until at least 9:00 AM Thursday, January 29, 2026.

The City of Atlantic City Department of Public Works began brining and salting roadways on Thursday and will have crews deployed throughout the storm for plowing and additional treatment operations. Public Works, the Atlantic City Office of Emergency Management, the Atlantic City Police Department, and the Atlantic City Fire Department will have additional personnel and equipment on standby during the weekend to respond as needed.

At the request of the City of Atlantic City’s Office of Emergency Management, the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) has authorized the Wave Parking Garage, located at the corner of Mississippi and Fairmount Avenues, to provide free parking for all Atlantic City residents and visitors from 12:00 PM Saturday (January 24) through 12:00 PM Tuesday (January 27). Free parking is permitted on the second floor of the garage during this time.

There will be no trash collection in Atlantic City on Monday, January 26. Services will be pushed back one day the rest of the week (there will be Saturday collection next week)

Residents and visitors are strongly urged to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm, especially Sunday into Monday, and to use extreme caution, particularly during any period of mixed precipitation. Motorists should reduce speed, increase following distance, and yield to snowplows and emergency vehicles. Please check on your neighbors during the storm, especially the elderly.

Atlantic City residents are encouraged to sign up for AC Alerts to receive text and email updates throughout the storm. The city also urges the public to monitor forecasts and advisories from the National Weather Service for the latest information.
