Atlantic City to Honor Dr. King’s Legacy During MLK Day Weekend
Posted January 06, 2026Each year, Atlantic City comes together to honor the life, legacy, and message of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The community is encouraged to take part this series of meaningful events.
Dr. King Read-In & Luncheon
The community is invited to honor Dr. King through the power of words, reflection, and fellowship at the annual Dr. King Read-In and Luncheon on Saturday, January 17 at Noyes Arts Garage (2200 Fairmount Avenue) from 2:00-4:00 PM. Participants will read excerpts from Dr. King’s powerful speeches and writings, fostering dialogue and shared understanding while enjoying a free meal together.
Free parking will be available at the Wave Parking Garage.
Registration is required.
The Atlantic City NAACP’s annual MLK Walk returns on Monday, January 19, reminding participants that his legacy is one of movement and action.
- 10:00 AM – Health screenings begin at the MLK School Complex (1700 MLK Boulevard)
- 10:30 AM – MLK Walk begins
- Route End – Sheila Y. Oliver Plaza outside City Hall
Following the walk, the community is invited to attend an MLK Day Service at St. James AME Church (101 N. New York Avenue) at 12:00 PM, offering a time for worship, reflection, and renewal.
Stockton University MLK Day of Service
Stockton University will host its 22nd Annual MLK Day of Service across all three campuses, including Atlantic City, on Monday, January 19. Hundreds of students, residents, and community partners will honor Dr. King’s belief that “everybody can be great, because everybody can serve,” by participating in hands-on service projects throughout the region.
