Atlantic City Remembers 9/11

Posted September 11, 2025
September 11, 2001 is a day forever etched into our hearts — a day of unimaginable loss, unthinkable tragedy, and incredible heroism. Years later, we continue to honor the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken far too soon. We remember families whose lives forever changed. In the face of darkness, heroes emerged — firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and everyday citizens who reminded us of the strength of the human spirit.

On September 11, 2025, the Atlantic City and Atlantic County community once again came together at the Saracini-O’Neill 9/11 Memorial at Jackson Avenue and the Boardwalk to pay their respects and stand together in unity. The annual ceremony featured bagpipers, a bell salute, flag presentation and more.

“We will never forget 9/11,” Mayor Marty Small, Sr. told the crowd. “We made strides as a country, sticking together. We need to stick with that scipt now more than ever. We must unite as a country. We must unite as a city. Because at the end of the day we are all that we got.”

Mayor Small, ACPD James Sarkos and ACFD Chief Scott Evans presented a flag to Angel and Camille Morales – a retired NYPD Sergeant and Detective, respectively, now living in Atlantic City, who responded to Ground Zero on the day of the attacks.
