City of Atlantic City Shines Spotlight on Black Entrepreneurship

Posted August 27, 2025

The City of Atlantic City’s Economic Development division under the Planning & Development department hosted the city’s first Black Business Expo at the All Wars Memorial Building on August 26, 2025, giving local entrepreneurs and small businesses a chance to showcase their products and network.  The event also featured panel discussions and live radio interviews. While at the expo, attendees even had the chance to apply for micro-grant applications to support their small businesses.

Mayor Marty Small Sr. and other leaders were on hand to celebrate and inspire black business and local success. During the welcome portion of the event, Mayor Small announced the City of Atlantic City is committing at least $500,000 in grant money to help support black businesses. He also announced Great Day University is coming to Atlantic City this fall, featuring a series of financial wellness programs available free for residents.

The Black Business Expo was organized by Bruce Weekes and Pam Fields in the city’s Economic Development division. The city plans to make this expo an annual event in Atlantic City.
