Mayor Small Announces New Criteria for Third Year of $3M Scholarship Program for Atlantic City Residents
Posted March 10, 2025City of Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Sr. and the “Mayor Marty Small, Sr. Scholarship” committee have announced exciting new details for the third year of this program. This year, another 100 scholarships worth up to $10,000 each will be awarded to Atlantic City residents who meet the eligibility requirements.
First announced in 2023, the “Mayor Marty Small, Sr. Scholarship” is a three-year commitment of up to $3 Million ($1 Million each year). For the first two years, eligible students had to be Atlantic City residents who just graduated from Atlantic City High School (ACHS) or residents in college who previously graduated from ACHS. This year, scholarships are open to residents that will graduate this spring, or previously graduated from ACHS or another school accepting Atlantic City Students. This applies to graduating high school seniors accepted to an accredited higher educational institution, current college freshman, sophomores and juniors, current graduate and doctoral students, and prospective trade school students.
Scholarship winners will receive half the money for the fall 2025 semester and the other half for the spring 2026 semester. The scholarship committee, made up of city employees and members of the community, is responsible for reviewing applications and choosing the winners among the qualified applicants. Mayor Small is not part of the selection process. Students who applied for the scholarship previously, who once again meet the eligibility requirements, may apply again this year. The $3 Million Scholarship money comes from the Addressing Educational Disparity category of American Rescue Plan funds Atlantic City has received. Completed applications will be due by 4:00 PM EST on Monday, April 7, 2025.
