In celebration of Black History Month, the City of Atlantic City has various displays, events and free trips planned throughout the month of February.

All throughout the month, you can come to the first floor of City Hall for a Black History display highlighting achievements of various Black Americans with Atlantic City ties. And in the City Hall lobby all month long, there will be an HBCU display highlighting contributions of Historically Black College and Universities and Divine 9 organizations. The Mayor’s Office of Special Events also has almost daily events planned for City of Atlantic City staff, including employee highlights, bakeoffs and special attire days.

The Atlantic City Senior Services division and Multicultural Services division are partnering up for two screenings of The Six Triple Eight - the incredible true story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion—the first and only all-Black, all-female battalion to serve overseas during World War II. Showings are 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM at the Police Athletic League (PAL) building. Multicultural Services has a February 27th, 2025 trip planned for Atlantic City residents to the African American Museum in Philadelphia while Senior Services is also organizing a trip to the Whitman Public Library in Philadelphia to see Summer of Soul on February 28th, 2025.

To Kickoff black History Month, Atlantic City Reentry Services brought Atlantic City youth in their “Raising Kings and Queens” program to the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. (pictured) while a Black History Month Expo took place at All Wars Memorial Building in celebration of its 100th anniversary.
