Posted December 02, 2024
Leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday, the City of Atlantic City held a successful Food Box Giveaway and Winter Coat Drive for city residents.

The Thanksgiving Food Box Giveaway was organized by the Atlantic City Senior Services division, with assistance from the city’s Community Block Grant Development (CDBG) office. In total, 500 turkeys and hams were distributed outside City Hall along with all the fixings. Another Food Box Giveaway will take place on December 16th with in-person registration starting December 3rd.

Atlantic City Reentry Services and the city’s Homeless Outreach unit organized the Winter Coat Drive at All Wars Memorial Building. Throughout the event, more than 250 Winter coats, more than 1,000 articles of clothing (hats, scarfs, gloves, etc.) and more than 100 pairs of shoes were given away. These items were collected at City Hall ahead of the Coat Drive. Hot soup and resources were also available.

Members of the city’s Department of Health and Human Services assisted with each event. Mayor Small offered his support at each event as well.
