ACPD Officer, New Jersey's First Amputee K9 Officer, Throws Out First Pitch at Phillies Game

Posted August 19, 2024
Atlantic City Police Department K9 Officer Michael Braxton had the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of Saturday night’s Philadelphia Phillies game at Citizens Banks Park. He was not only there representing Atlantic City, but the Challenged Athletes Foundation as well, where he is a mentor.

After a motorcycle crash, Officer Braxton had the lower portion of his left leg amputated. Since that day, he has persevered and become an example to model after. He fought his way back to protecting and serving the Atlantic City community and became New Jersey's first amputee K9 officer.

Sporting a red Phillies jersey with the name “Braxton” on the back, Officer Braxton made the ACPD and City of Atlantic City proud by throwing the first pitch, which was caught by the Phillie Phanatic!
