City of Atlantic City Dedicates City Hall Courtyard Project to the Late Sheila Oliver
Posted October 03, 2023City of Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Sr. has announced construction to improve the City Hall Courtyard is scheduled to begin in January of 2024. The enhanced courtyard will be called “Lt. Governor Sheila Y. Oliver Plaza” in honor of the late New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver. Her name will be etched in the building above the main entrance, and will be placed on street signs throughout the courtyard.
“We’ve been working on the courtyard project for two years now, and I can’t think of a better person to associate the finished product with than Sheila Oliver,” said Mayor Small. “Lieutenant Governor Oliver deserves nothing short of an entire plaza to her name, as she has always been a supporter of the Great City of Atlantic City and the Small administration, and did what she could to make sure my vision to better this city comes to fruition. It brings us pure joy to be able to honor her in this fashion, as she will be forever associated with Atlantic City.”
The project incorporates environmentally responsible and enhanced security features. Highlights include the addition of benches, beautiful trees and shrubs, a rain garden, a fountain, improved lighting and a covered walkway above the main entrance to City Hall, which will be gated. The project also features a redesigned main parking lot and north parking lot. The project is anticipated to be completed by Fall of 2024.
