The Directors Office has responsibility for plans, specifications and contracts for public improvements; supervises and administers the various divisions and subdivisions; prescribes the internal organization of the department and the functions of its staff.
Public Works Director Crystal Lewis
Crystal J. Lewis was born and raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She attended and graduated from Atlantic City Public Schools. Crystal is a graduate of Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Currently, she is pursuing her Master’s degree in Public Administration. Crystal received her State of New Jersey-Certified Public Managers certificate in May of 2009. In 2019, Crystal successfully completed the required courses for Certified Public Works Managers.
Crystal Lewis began her career with the City of Atlantic City in March 1989. She has held various positions within the City of Atlantic City organization. She was appointed as Director of Public Works in January 2023. Part of her responsibilities consist of planning, organizing, and directing the programs and activities of a comprehensive public works department. Other responsibilities, preparation of annual departmental budgetary expenditures, departmental disciplinary practice and implementation. She also undertakes specific studies pertaining to public works functions while having knowledge of techniques used to plan the effective use of available funds, personnel, equipment, materials, and other supplies within the department.
